I don't think that WOTC will ever say: "Let's reorganize our entire roadmap for the next years to absolutely fuck up every digital-only card game and make Arena the top game in the category". While digital-only TCG have their ecosystem totally inside the digital format, MTG is first and foremost a "paper" TCG that happens to also be in digital form (also, let's not forget MTGO). Bunch of new players possibly coming to this awesome game! Tldr: Runeterra may be headed towards maintenance mode in a yearish. Now that mtg is the only game in town I look forward to focusing solely on it. So I anticipate a deluge of lor players, much like myself, who were on the fence of committing to MTG due to a lesser alternative being out.
I've always had a special place in my heart for mtg and although a friendly f2p environment was nice, I'd always collect the cards of the current expansion, then get bored due to a lack of depth. I myself am sort of glad this is happening as I now can only focus my attention on one, more complex, card game. This is sending the LOR community into a bit of a doom spiral as they are most likely just finishing up their plans for 2022 then we may see a maintenance mode blog or something. Tldr of the blog post is riot reallocating members of what they themselves deemed to be their most popularpve game mode to other riot projects. There's rumors around it being headed towards a dead end in a year or two based on a recent blog post released by riot: Well it seems the whole f2p friendly thing of runeterra seems to have bitten the game in the butt. I've enjoyed the f2p friendly economy of runeterra everyone here has heard of or seen arena been compared to. I always get disheartened when my brief noobie experience comes to an end when I'm faced with having to buy boosters or spam the free decks they give you. I've hovered around mtg for a bit, an expansion or two at least.
